Dimitra Papageorgiou is an Athens-based photographer and visual artist specializing in self-portraiture, conceptual photography, experimental lighting techniques, and architectural photography. Born in Athens, she graduated from the University of West Attica with a degree in Photography & Audiovisual Arts, and holds a second degree in Public Relations and Communication from the Ionian Technological Institute. Intensively involved with photography since 2010 and working professionally since 2014, Dimitra has refined her practice through seminars with prominent photographers such as Platon Rivellis and Ioanna Vasdeki, alongside workshops with Fotograficus and the Depression Era collective. In 2014, she earned a scholarship at Orama Photography Studies, and in 2015, her portfolio project “Home” received the 'Photographer of the Year' award at the international Nikon Photography Contest. Over the past several years, she has established a dynamic presence in real estate, architectural, and interior photography, having successfully captured over 2,000 properties with a distinct aesthetic eye. Alongside her architectural portfolio, she specializes in fine-art and promotional portraiture for artists, actors, and musicians. She has also participated in several group photography exhibitions. Parallel to her commercial work, Dimitra maintains a vibrant artistic and educational presence. She leads her signature long-running workshop, “The Art of Self-Portrait”, alongside specialized portraiture seminars. Her personal projects mainly concern the depiction of the self; directing, surrealism, and pop culture are words that compose her work. Her personal work enjoys significant international recognition, with fine-art prints widely sold to collectors in the Netherlands and beyond. Her photography has been featured on prestigious global platforms like PhotoVogue Italy, and her artwork has been proudly exhibited in major European cultural hubs, including Paris, Italy, and Switzerland. Dimitra is also widely recognized for her multimedia collaborations, acting as a photographer and videographer for the Athens Pride Festival, Drag shows in Athens, and the creative party makers Banana Boys. She currently lives and works in Athens.
